a real journey academies our goal is to transform communities ScrewAttack 2016 Journey Academy Sports in the old Kmart building that have been closed for over 10 years it has become a hub of activity and ice or the community between fall 2017 in the summer of 2018 the building and grounds would transform Josh maneuver High School one of California's and the country's only wall-to-wall business high schools our campus is designed to look more like a college or corporate headquarters in a typical school and Lasting that each student each day so it has to stand up we want students to feel inspired as they walk to the doors look across the space and imagine all the possibilities we think this vast space with expansive Skylight a cop shows that the atrium is a prime example of art design canditos it is symbolic of how we want eat High seems to think big just off the atrium at the parents are we understood long ago that we don't just enroll students we enroll families parents can stop by anytime to request a wide range Support Services anything from help with food or household items to setting up a session with one of our school or mental health counselors our teachers are the hardest working people in our organization and they need their own space to prepare for license transfer colleagues can relax with a nice cup of coffee after class his face was designed for that purpose we're standing at the base for a Theatre rent another unique feature of our school Amphitheater a like almost everything at this campus is multi-functional first is a cool way to get to the Student Union and 2nd it serves as a 400-person Amphitheatre for presentations Student Union one of the requirements for Designing school we wanted to space where students can hang out and while there are a lot of places around campus for them do that this is the place to do before and after school students can read do work watch TV or just chill out we have ambitious academic goals for stew they will need to study hard but we want students to know their comfort and downtimes important to us as well the career and College Center is a critical part of the eye as college prep and career Readiness are at the core of our academic model the center guide students as they progress through their time Eddie High students have the opportunity to speak with College and Career counselors research colleges and jobs pick up valuable interviewing and job skills this is our first in-house business and the prince he had students with guidance from staff design and produce marketing materials for our schools and other businesses in the area we have the capability of printing on just about anything with our UV printer and embroidery machine we also have 3D does that create anything or seen its Minds can think of this in-house business not only offers a great place first you must learn how to operate a business but it also generates Revenue we're just outside our media center Media Center allows students to create a variety promotional items in house that most schools are not able to a big part of any business Endeavor is creating marketing materials and media to built on these computers there are no two classrooms alike on our campus his classroom is a great example of the flexibility of our modular space it can be used for small group sessions of five to six students standard size of 25 to 30 or a large presentation 460 you can see how the room dividers allowed to do that in addition we made sure to take advantage of as much SoCal sunlight possible I have Windows in every classroom and even interior class they open up his face and make great use of natural light allowing us to use less artificial life modern furnishings and equipment like rolling desk and chairs Boomerang surfboard tables whiteboard tables laptop cart in every classroom and barns we're all part of the design for easy access this place doesn't look like much right now but by this summer this area will be alive with sports cords Courtyards and numerous places for our students to hang out while adding a gymnasium to a pre-existing building was a design challenge this was an absolute must because of the importance of physical fitness to the overall success of our students they need to have a comfortable environment to stay in shape our gym will be used all day long for PE as well as nights and weekends are sports teams this floor is a super durable material that will survive the heavy beating it will take it also has a nice splash of color by the way our mascot is a panther it's not your typical Heights it features restaurant-style booths televisions for entertainment in bar height tables and stools these Furnishings make a comfortable and relaxed environment for students to enjoy while on break and by the way the coronary art business called Panther eats the kids commercial grade with a walk-in fridge freezer industrial ovens and will be used as a culinary classroom this is our black box here like every other space City High what is Endless Possibilities from Shark Tank style event to plays presentations and even the occasional cheerleading practice we frequently have Regional business owners entrepreneurs come and share their stories with our students for inspiration. Fox Theater is a hub of activity on any given day Eddie High since the focus of our academic programs Business and Entrepreneurship we needed his face very high students to promote their business ideas to the community the pop-up store area was design this purpose as soon as progress of the program they have an opportunity to present their work in this space and it also houses REI store and we finish our tour at the main office this is where you will see our amazing office staff ready when you come to you. And they are just friendly faces they also have extensive experience in school operations are ready to fulfill your request and answer questions you might have
